You may recall that Shaq, RZA and Method Man collaborated on the truly awful tune for Shaq’s second album, “Shaq Fu: Da Return” in 1994. — Boston Herald

But I’m coming to Turkey next year.” Yalcin also said Iverson served as an intermediary, talking with Shaq to convince him to sign with the Turkish club.  — Hoops Notes

Celtics star doesn’t play video games

Boston Celtics big guy Shaquille O’Neal donned a Santa hat and hosted a holiday bash for the kids from the Roxbury Boys and Girls Club in Dedham yesterday and a very merry time was had by all. With his galpal Nicole “Hoopz” Alexander sitting on his lap like a regular Santa’s elf, the Big Man delivered toys to all the good girls and boys, played video games and dug into a big Italian buffet at the Buca di Beppo restaurant. O’Neal has been spreading holiday cheer to underprivileged kids in every city where he’s played ball since 1992 when his mother created the Shaq-A-Claus event. “I’ve been doing it ever since,” said No. 36, who has adopted the Roxbury Boys and Girls Club as his special concern since coming to Boston. Ladaun Spencer, 9, of Roxbury, passed Shaq a note at the party yesterday to thank the Celtics center for a new pair of shoes he gave her at Thanksgiving. After reading it, Shaq immediately invited Ladaun over for a hug. Later he donned a single white glove, a la Michael Jackson, and he and Hoopz challenged the kids to a “Thriller” dance off on the just-released Ubisoft game “Michael Jackson: The Experience.” Despite his ability to channel the “King of Pop, Shaq claimed video games aren’t part of his daily routine. “I haven’t played video games since Sega,” he told the Track. — Boston Herald

Celts star having knee issues

Shaquille O’Neal is experiencing the same knee soreness that caused him to miss five games last month, but with the Celtics low on bodies (just 11 players active), he tried to play through it yesterday. He played 12 first-half minutes before taking a seat. “[Shaq] told me before the game that he probably wouldn’t go, but we didn’t have enough players,’’ Rivers said. “He said, ‘If you just play me three or four minutes in a row, see how long I can go through halftime,’ and he was great. We needed that. We needed those minutes.’’ — Boston Globe

NBA star challenging kids to dance-moves contest

Celtics big-hearted Big Guy Shaquille O’Neal will play Shaq-A-Claus on Tuesday when he straps on the red suit and hat and ho-ho-hos it down to Dedham to treat 75 kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Roxbury to a holiday party at the brand- new Buca di Beppo. Shaq, wearing one glove, will challenge the kids to a dance-moves contest with the just-released Ubisoft video game “Michael Jackson: The Experience.” — Boston Herald

NBA star buys Thanksgiving dinner for 120 senior citizens

Celtics center Shaquille O’Neal committed yet another random act of Shaq-ness yesterday, ponying up for the annual Thanksgiving dinner for 120 Lincoln-Sudbury senior citizens. The event, put on by Lincoln-Sudbury High School students, is a 20-year tradition in the community where Shaq has set up housekeeping. But the fund that paid for it was depleted and the holiday hoedown was facing cancellation until the Big Guy stepped up. — Boston Herald

Spurs Tim Duncan trails only two active players in 15/15 club

Tim Duncan scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the Spurs’ win over the Bulls. It was the 202nd game of Duncan’s career in which he had at least 15 points and 15 rebounds. Only two active players have more 15/15 games than Duncan: Shaquille O’Neal (235) and Kevin Garnett (204).204. — Elias Sports Bureau

NBA legend to dress as Santa, only talk to kids

Shaquille O’Neal will be back at a shopping mall near you dressed as “Shaq-A-Claus.’’ The impromptu ho-ho-ho-down, like the aforementioned Harvard stunt last month, will be announced on Shaq’s Twitter page. But he won’t make like John Harvard this time. No. 36 told 98.5 FM’s Toucher & Rich yesterday that St. Shaqicholas will be dressed in “a green or red Santa Claus suit’’ and will only talk to kids. (A size XXXX green Santa suit? Seriously?) “We’ll take pictures,’’ the Jolly One told the morning team. “No autographs, no stories, just bring your kids. I’ll have the white beard and everything. “I’ll talk to kids, I don’t want to talk to adults because I’m Santa Claus. Ho, ho, ho,’’ he said. Apparently, Shaq doesn’t want to venture far in his Santa duds, so he said he expects to make his pop-up appearance “at a mall nearby where I live at, so it will probably be the mall down the street.’’ As in the Natick Collection. — Boston Herald

NBA star invites fans to hang with him at famous bar

Hours after Shaq-a-Claus filled his sack at Toys ’R’ Us and donated his booty to Toys for Tots, he was on Beacon Hill belting out the “Cheers” theme song with patrons at the iconic watering hole. At lunchtime, apparently looking for something to do on his day off, No. 36 Tweeted: “I hv a day off, u no the song, meet me at the food place (downtown) ‘where no one knows ur name’ ill be there at 3pm.” Despite screwing up the lyrics, Shaq’s disciples knew where to go and were not disappointed when the big man appeared right on time clad in jeans, a polo shirt and, ahem, blue corduroy slippers. — Boston Herald

NBA stars enjoy Stevie Wonder performance

Stevie Wonder was the focus of attention at Prime 112 in South Beach the other night when Celtic coach Doc Rivers and players Shaquille O’Neal and Glen “Big Baby” Davis came to pay homage to the legendary singer. Later, rapper Drake joined Wonder, who dined with a security guard and an assistant and asked for a photo with him. Despite all the attention, Wonder said he was sorry he missed Chris Brown, who’d dined there earlier. – NY Post

U.S. State Department uses sports memorabilia as gifts for foreign dignitaries

“Inside the State Department,” airing Monday night on the National Geographic Channel, is a serious, behind-the-scenes look at Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her inner circle as they wage peace in New York, Pakistan, Abu Dhabi, Jerusalem, Morocco, Egypt and Afghanistan. But there are a fun couple of minutes when the cameras go into the inner sanctum of State’s “gift vault.” Tucked behind a nondescript door in Washington headquarters, the room, lined with metal shelving, holds hundreds of gifts that Clinton hands out to foreign dignitaries. “We always want a gift to make sense,” says Protocol Gift Officer David Solomon. “It’s basically coming as a representation of the American people, so we always try to try and display our culture.” Most of the goodies are boxed and wrapped in gold paper, but Solomon shows off a couple of selections: a painting by Arab American artist Helen Zughaib intended for the king of Morocco, a set of gold earrings selected for the country’s princess. Then Solomon pulls a giant white sneaker off the shelf (size 23 shoes autographed by Shaquille O’Neal), a baseball bat autographed by Derek Jeter and a signed basketball just like the one given to the president of Tanzania. “American sports memorabilia is really popular,” he explains. And, lucky for taxpayers, donated by the teams and athletes. — Washington Post

Celts star could be out two weeks

Shaquille O’Neal did not suit up for the Celtics on Wednesday night against Milwaukee and could sit out for as much as two weeks, Rivers said. The center bruised his right knee Friday against the New York Knicks and has not played since. Rivers has repeatedly made clear he intends to monitor the minutes of his veterans — in particular the 38-year-old O’Neal. But he has no magic formula. All he can do is take it cautiously when O’Neal does start to feel some aches and pains. “I don’t know what the number is,” Rivers said. “I’m not Billy Beane-ish.” O’Neal will continue to participate in practice to be ready to go when he does return. — Providence Journal

Shaq’s fiancee dresses as man for Halloween

Inquiring minds want to know: Who was the pregnant (?), costumed and bejeweled woman rolling with Shaqeeta O’Neal on Halloween night? Word is, it was none other than Shaq’s alleged fiancee, Nicole “Hoopz” Alexander! The Big Shamroq Tweeted a video of his Halloween hijinks yesterday and once everyone got over the sight of the 7-foot-1, 345-pound Celtics center in a dress and wig lip-synching Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams,” the guessing games began over the identity of his companion. Shaq, as you probably know, had promised to ride the T on Halloween night in drag. But when Herald hoops guy Dan Duggan asked him about Shaqueeta yesterday, he had a new story. “Oh, my twin sister,” O’Neal said with a straight face. “She came in town on me.” — Boston Herald

Shaq dresses like a woman

Shaquille O’Neal got into the spirit of Halloween by cross-dressing. The future pro basketball Hall of Famer dressed as “Shaqeeta” and sent this photo out on his Twitter feed. Hey it didn’t hurt actor Tom Hanks, after he dressed as a woman to play “Buffy Wilson” in the classic 1980 sitcom “Bosom Buddies.” — Twitter (THE_REAL_SHAQ)

NBA star plans to cross-dress for Halloween

The MBTA is cheering Shaq’s plan to ride the T on Halloween dressed as a 7-foot-1, 345-pound woman named “Shaquita,” complete with a wig, dress and falsies. “He should take the Green line,” suggested MBTA General Manager Richard Davey, who counts himself among Shaq’s Twitter followers. “We’re gonna try to reach out to Shaq and give him a free Charlie Card to ride. We’ll take Shaq or Shaquita and only charge him as one fare.” — Boston Herald

Jay-Z to watch LeBron’s Heat debut in Boston?

Shaquille O’Neal’s mom, Lucille, will be in da house perched in a primo seat (next to team owner Wyc Grousbeck’s mom, Sukey) to watch her baby boy try to cool off the Heat. So you know the Big Shamroq will be on his best behavior. There’s been some buzz that King James’ BFF Jay-Z, who failed to lure his bud to his New Jersey Nets, may pop in for the marquee match-up. We do know “psyched’’ Celtics superfan Donnie Wahlberg will beat feet back to Boston from his “Blue Bloods’’ set in the Apple to catch the action from his courtside seat. — Boston Herald
