Carl Landry: dream was never to play for Kings

The NBA trade deadline is a week away. Kings forward Carl Landry knows that well. As one of the Kings mentioned most in trade rumors because of his expiring contract and relatively low pay ($3 million), Landry is used to hearing he might be dealt by Feb. 24. “It’s a date on everybody’s calendar where it’s pretty much circled,” Landry said. “Everybody wants to be a part of this team right now; everybody wants to win. And you just never know.” Landry said he hadn’t spoken to management, but his agent Aaron Smith has stayed in contact with the Kings. Landry said he was caught off guard last year, when Houston sent him to the Kings as part of the Kevin Martin deal. Landry, however, is not getting stressed out about the deadline. “It is what it is,” Landry said. “If I’m here, I’m here. If I’m not, I’m not. My dream was always to play in the NBA and never for the Kings or the Bulls or the New York Knicks. Hopefully I’m here. If not, I’ve got to keep working.” — Sacramento Bee
