The Bengals are sending out mixed signals on wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, so are they are going to cancel his decade-long reality TV now and go with the Sesame Street young receivers? There is a school of thought out there that believes the Bengals already exercised the team option on The Ocho and he’s under contract for ’11. That would mean there would be no timetable for a decision and if anybody is looking to get him they may have to trade for him. Plus, the Bengals are going to make sure all their ducks are healthy, lined up, and ready to go if he’s not coming back. So that may linger awhile. — Bengals.com

Bengals WR Ochocinco on next season: “I’d love to see Terrell come back next year. As far as myself, I don’t even know if I’ll be back next year. … Changes will be made and they’ll be significant.” Publicly, during his weekly Wednesday locker room sessions, Ochocinco has sounded somewhat confident about being back next year (even when others have said it is unlikely the club would pick up the $6 million option). So, this is at least the first public statement where 85 is acknowledging that a tidal wave of changes are coming. The Bengals have lost 10 straight this season and Ochocinco might not be back with the Bengals. “Aw, man, it’s been tough,” he said. “It’s been tough just trying to find ways to continue to keep myself motivated, continue to keep myself smiling. I’m trying to be part of the solution and not the problem. I’m doing everything I can to stay positive. It’s really hard, especially when you lose week in and week out. It’s really stressful, man.” So nothing fun planned for the Browns’ defensive backs? Chad Ochocinco is up to his old tricks … trying to mess with his next opponents — the Atlanta Falcons — by sending their defensive backs t-shirts with his mug plastered all over the front. Sources close to Chad tell us the Cincinnati Bengals star shipped boxes of shirts featuring the “Mad Chad” character from his iPhone app to Falcons cornerbacks Brent Grimes, Dunta Robinson and Chris Owens and safeties William Moore and Thomas DeCoud.  — TMZ

Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said Wednesday that he needs to raise his level of play and believes part of that resurgence requires him to start talking more. “I haven’t been Chad at all,” said Ochocinco. “I’ve been quiet. There’s no bulletin board material. There’s no excitement leading up to the game. There’s no trash talking, there’s no fun. Right now I’m not playing with confidence. Zero, zilch.” Ochocinco and Terrell Owens were joined by safety Roy Williams, defensive end Antwan Odom and running back Bernard Scott as those who did not practice Wednesday. The Bengals have a bye this week.  “Usually my confidence is built over me saying things and forcing myself to back up what I say,” said Ochocinco. “I look at myself and have evaluated myself after five weeks and the numbers are down.
