For the first time in the history of the NFL, a player will be honored with a rally for winning a reality show.

The Steelers might have lost 31-25 to the Packers in the Super Bowl, but Hines Ward is getting a victory rally anyway.

The NFL receiver and dance partner Kym Johnson are being honored by the city of Pittsburgh for bringing the “Mirror Ball Trophy” back to the Steel City.

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl tells the Post-Gazette that Steelers Nation have demanded the city properly thank Hines Ward for his reality show win.

Imagine if Ward had the Lombardi Trophy instead of a made up award.

Cowboys fans can drown their sorrows with wine produced by a former head coach.

Barry Switzer one of only two coaches to win a college national championship and Super Bowl has opened Switzer Family Vineyards.

The Dallas Morning News reports the sparkling water produced in Napa Valley, will be sold in Texas and Oklahoma.

Wine connoisseur Jerry Jones got Switzer turned on to high-priced vintages while working together in Dallas. Switzer is the last Cowboys head coach to win a Super Bowl.

The label of each bottle from Switzer Family Vineyards includes this inscription:

My rural home in Arkansas was a shotgun house built in 1893. You could shoot a shotgun through the front door, out the back, not hit a thing. Hallway down the middle with three rooms on each side. No electricity, no plumbing, heat from a wood stove, light from coal oil lamps. There was something special about that old house, and I think there is something special about our wine. I know, since I happen to be a bootleggers boy. Enjoy! Barry Switzer.

Chuck Norris is a big fan of an NFL quarterback. Tim Tebow told Jimmy Kimmel after his Heisman Trophy winning sophomore season at Florida he received a hand written letter from Norris.

“It was a super nice letter encouraging me and ever since then we have had a relationship and its been pretty cool,” Tebow said.

Norris, an internet legend thanks to “Chuck Norris Facts,” is known for his martial arts and acting skills. He’s also a devout Christian, which most likely led him to follow Tebow. Norris has written several books on Christianity over the years.

Kimmel pointed out the blurb Norris wrote on the back of Tebow’s book.

Tebow also said that the Hollywood movie “Rocky 4″ inspired his workout routine as a kid.

Los Angeles has an NBA team (Clippers) that started in Buffalo, now they could be adding an NFL team as well. Tim Leiweke is scouting America for the right NFL franchise to purchase and move to the city of Dodgers and Lakers. Pro Football Weekly reports the Buffalo Bills could be the perfect choice to head west. Owner Ralph Wilson says the team will go to the highest bidder after he does. At age 92, he wants the franchise to stay in Buffalo, but when he’s moved on, its money that will decide the teams next home.

Clarence Clemons died this week in Florida, after a brilliant musical career, but did you know he almost landed in the National Football League. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the key member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band had a tryout lined up with the Browns in the mid 1960s.

A scout had watched Clemens paying semi-pro football for the New Jersey Generals and wanted him to tryout. The day before he was to workout for the Browns, Clemons was involved in a serious car crash, his Buick Riviera slammed into a tree, he nearly lost an ear and would never play football again.

The radio gas bag called Barber’s time at NBC a “failure.” The NY Daily News reports Barber didn’t agree with that analysis.

“I think it’s unfair for you to label it that way,” said Barber. “I don’t know what I could have done better at NBC.” But Francesa would not let Barber end the conversation there. “Tiki, you got fired,” Francesa said. “Oh, did I? Did I? Mike I don’t think you know the story,” Barber retaliated.

Barber couldn’t handle the tough questions alone, he had his agent on the call as a bodyguard, according to Francesa.

This wasn’t just prep for the draft, the St. Petersburg Times reports ESPN cameras were filming everything for a one-hour Pryor special to air June 30. He spent six hours breaking down video with Gruden, that will be a big part of the special. Agent Drew Rosenhaus won’t let Pryor talk about his prep for the NFL Draft, but he’s going back to Miami to train.

She’s never been much of a sports fan, you can ask Drew Brees about that, but Oprah Winfrey’s dream is to speak with an NFL legend. The retired queen of day time television would love to talk with convicted felon O.J. Simpson.

“I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me,” Winfrey told an enthusiastic crowd of cable industry suits attending the National Cable & Telecommunications Association convention in Chicago, according to news media reports. “And I am going to make that happen, people. I don’t just want the interview. I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson,” she added.

Oprah is desperate for people to watch her struggling cable network. The Washington Post reports the OWN channel has failed to land many viewers since its launch in January. Simpson could spend 33 years behind bars after being convicted of felony kidnapping, armed robbery and other charges. Simpson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985, his first year of eligibility. He starred for the Bills and 49ers in the 1970s.

Media Bistro gives up the secrets.

1. Speak for yourself. “That’s something Coach Belichick always said — ‘Don’t worry about anyone else’s situation, on another team or your team, always think about your job, doing your job, and commenting on that.”

2. Never talk about injuries. “Never let them know if you’re hurt or not hurt.”

3. Pour on the perfume. “This is compliments. You want to spray that perfume on your opponent on Wednesday all the way through Saturday, and then get the job done on Sunday.”

4. Fall back on cliches. “When in doubt, use the old safe cliche. You love those — ’100 percent’, ‘one day at a time.’”

Leonard Pope isn’t a household name around the NFL, but he’s done something Tom Brady and Peyton Manning could only dream of doing. The Chiefs tight end saved a six year old child from drowning. The Americus Times-Recorder in Georgia reports Pope rescued Bryson Moore, 6, from going under the water after the little guy fell into a pool while attending a cousin’s birthday party over the weekend. The ironic part of the story, if it hadn’t been for the NFL labor dispute, Pope might not have been at the party to save the child.

The child’s mother Anne Moore said Pope was an answered prayer. “The fact that he is normally at camp and could have been in Kansas City just proved to me that he was placed here to save my son from drowning, and I thank God that he was here,” she said. “He truly lived up to his nickname ‘Champ’ because he was truly a champion for me and my son this past weekend.”

Santana Moss will have to lawyer up, after getting handed a lawsuit from a Miami businessman who is accusing the Redskins star of ripping him off on a lease for a dry cleaning business that was run by members of Moss’ family. The Washington Post has the details.

According to court documents filed June 4 in Miami-Dade County, Stadium Corners Shopping Center LLC contends that 3 Kings Dry Cleaners Inc. owes $24,151.78 in back rent, plus accelerated rent and court and attorney’s fees. In all, Stadium Corners is seeking $308,870.64. Craig Bernstein, owner of Stadium Corners shopping center in Miami Gardens, said that 3 Kings Dry Cleaners, which lists Moss as its president in a filing with Florida’s secretary of state, vacated the property in the past few months but had agreed to pay the rent owed until that date. But payment never was received and Bernstein said the dry cleaners is now six months behind.

He’s gained a reputation in the theater community for his support of the arts.

Charlie Batch’s failures in the bakery business sent him into bankruptcy. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Steelers backup QB has been given protection from the court this week from the many creditors coming after him for money. Batch filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, with $2.3 million in assets, against $8.3 million in debts. He’ll be able to keep his house and Super Bowl rings, but not his home in Michigan which went to foreclosure. How did he lose all his NFL money?

Most of the debts were incurred in business ventures, including Batch Development Co., Kings Bakery LLC, and Courtland Place LLC. The lenders will still have liens on the properties those firms own, but they won’t be enforceable on Mr. Batch.

Things aren’t going very well for that development company.

In a related Allegheny County Common Pleas Court case, a court-appointed receiver overseeing 27 properties of his real estate company, Batch Development Co. Inc., reported that the properties generated about $11,500 in rent and cost about $20,000 in expenses in May.

Florida taxpayers are helping the upper crust in the Sunshine State enjoy football from the lap of luxury. The St. Petersburg Times reports close to $3.9 million in tax money will be spent to renovate luxury suites at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium next year. Most Bucs fans never get a taste of life high on the hog, but here is what your tax money is going to cover.

The money, most of which comes from tourist taxes, will pay for new carpeting ($597,200), furnishings ($2.3 million), ice makers ($225,940) and refrigerators ($225,940) in the 195 suites.

Not saying the NBA playoffs are long, but an Alligator could come to life in just the time it takes to crown a champion. The boys at the Wall Street Journal, who clearly have too much time on their hands, broke down a list of animals that can be created and born in span of time it takes to complete different playoff sporting event.

- Hummingbirds can be conceived and born in the time (18-23 days) it takes college football’s Bowl Season and March Madness to crown a champion

- The NFL and MLB playoffs last between 24-and-29 days, just enough time for a Peacock to be conceived and born, not the kind at NBC.

- Not many American’s watch the Cricket World Cup, but a Kangaroo could be created and come to life in the time (42 days) it took to complete the 2011 event.

- Alligator shows are pretty popular on TV these days, thats good for the NBA and NHL. The 54-to-63 days it takes them to finish the postseason, is enough time to create a baby alligator.

- Champions League Soccer is the real winner, they have a postseason that goes between 92-to-102 days, long enough for a Snow Leopard to be conceived and born.
