The Florida Marlins have had to move three home games from South Florida to Seattle because of a U2 concert, now one of their players believes the rock group should make things up to the players.

Reliever Brian Sanches tells the Miami Herald front man Bono would be wise to hook each player up with backstage passes when U2 plays in one of their hometowns during the winter.

I had no idea an extra weekend in Seattle was so bad. The Marlins think life is tougher because of the band, but when they play on the road fans actually show up!

The Brewers outfielder ate the delicious meal as he went out for batting practice.

Morgan, who has worn argyle socks in games under his game socks and flown a kite on Lake Michigan thanks to fans Twitter advice, also has some fun nicknames.

He tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he’s known as T-Dot and Tony Plush back in San Jose.

“Basically it was me and my crew. We called ourselves “The Rat Pack” back in the day back in San Jose (Calif.). Me and a few of my co-pilots, you could say, we basically were our own little crew. I was Tony Plush, we had my boy Frankie Sleaze, then there was my other boy, James dot Dean. We had fun with it, just a bunch of kids. I still call them Frankie Sleaze and James dot Dean. It was just one of those things that grew. I didn’t think that T-Dot would ever arrive like this. Nyjer Morgan wouldn’t say that, but T-Dot always knew that he’d be there (laughs).”

Jayson Werth ended up on the tabloid pages for his choice of food while in Chicago last weekend.

The $126,000,000 slugger had a Roquefort and Beet Salad for lunch at Bistro 110.

The Nationals slugger paid $10.95 for a salad that included Arugula, red onions and red wine vinaigrette with sliced beets, golden raisins and Roquefort cheese.

Lets hope those raisins and beets help Werth hit more than .224

Miguel Cairo is the answer to an odd baseball trivia question. The journeyman infielder is the last remaining original 1998 Devil Rays team. Everyone else has retired. The expansion Devil Rays went 63-99 under manager Larry Rothschild. Fred McGriff’s 19 homers led the offense, Rolando Arrojo’s 14-12 record made him the ace of Tampa’s first team.

Cairo, 37, with the Cincinnati Reds this season has traveled to nine Major League teams, he’s never made more than $1 million in a season and only now has a multiyear deal. With the Expansion Rays, Cairo batted .268 with 5 homers and 46 RBIs. The St. Petersburg Times asked Cairo about his place in team history.

“I’m very thankful and grateful for what I have and for what I’ve accomplished all these years,” Cairo said. “To be the last man standing from that ’98 season, it feels good that I’m still playing and that I can do it and I can still help a major-league team. … “I’ve still got that fire. I still love it.”

The Pittsburgh Pirates have long been the biggest joke on the field in Major League Baseball, now some are accusing them of being dirty off the field. A group of protesters made a scene at PNC Park on Sunday to protest what they say is shady business by the home town team.

In what is called the “Delaware loophole,” the Pirates are registered in the state of Delaware to avoid paying corporate income taxes in the state of Pennsylvania, according to a member of the group.

The Pirates have had 18 straight losing seasons, the all-time record in the history of major sports. They tell WPIX (via GrassRootsPA) that reports of them not paying their fair share of taxes aren’t correct.

The Pirates released a statement saying, “The assertion that the Pirates were ‘moved’ to avoid paying Pennsylvania state taxes is false. The Pittsburgh Pirates are, and have been for many years, a Pennsylvania limited partnership. In addition, millions of dollars are also generated through the amusement tax, which goes directly to the city of Pittsburgh. “

A Tigers cap was his trademark on Magnum P.I., but Tom Selleck might finally have been replaced as the top celebrity Detroit Tigers fan. Kid Rock, Eminem and other celebrities have sported Motor City hard ball gear over the years, but a fresh new face popped up on the bandwagon.

Justin Bieber was spotted by paparazzi at LAX on Saturday wearing a Tigers road cap. Bieber was mobbed by fans and photographers, using the baseball hat to shield his face from his admirers. Magnum, P.I. ran from 1980 to 1988, the teen heartthrob wasn’t born until 1994. He’ll have to look up Selleck’s Wikipedia page to learn about the iconic actor.

Bieber, a Canadian, probably has never heard of Ryan Rayburn or Al Alburquerque but he just sold more big league merchandise for Detroit’s pro baseball team than those guys or for that matter Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander combined.

The Rangers and Marlins have fired hitting coaches this season, yet the Halos offense is worse.

Paul Maholm, who has made more starts than any left-handed NL pitcher since 2006, could be staying in a Pirates uniform for years to come. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Bucs could try to extend the pitcher with a 3-7 record this season. Maholm says he’d be doing something few before him have done, sign a long-term deal with Pittsburgh.

“I’d definitely talk to them,” Maholm said. “I said that in the spring. They control everything. They have the option. They have the ability to trade me. They have the ability to wait and see what happens … “I’m not going to beg for [a new deal], but I’d be open to what they have to say. I enjoy the guys here. I enjoy the staff. The fans are great. I like the city. Why wouldn’t I talk to them? I haven’t heard anything from them yet and I don’t know that I will. I just hope they come to me soon if they are going to do it. I don’t want them to come to me the week of the trade deadline and hit me with everything right then.”
