Euro star guard wants to play for Miami Heat?

Enter Ricky Rubio, the No. 5 overall choice in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He, too, apparently, would not mind being part of the Miami Heat mix. Over the weekend, in a New York Times piece on the creative Spanish League point guard, a senior member of Rubio’s entourage was quoted as saying, “The bottom line is, why would he want to play in Minnesota? “He’ll continue to say all the diplomatic things, and Minnesota needs to keep his value up for trade purposes, but the family’s preference is to be on the East Coast, specifically New York, Miami or Boston.” New York we know has trade chips, considering the Knicks already have put them into play for Carmelo Anthony. The Celtics certainly have attractive, if not aging pieces, unless Rajon Rondo is put into play, which would appear a stretch. The Heat? Well, there is Mike Miller, who already has done a tour in Minnesota. There is Udonis Haslem, who hardly would be a fit for a team that already has Michael Beasley and Kevin Love. — South Florida Sun-Sentinel
