Colt McCoy revealed Wednesday that he’s still sometimes bothered by the pinched nerve in his right shoulder that he suffered in last year’s BCS Championship Game against Alabama. During a radio interview with Dan Patrick in Dallas, McCoy said “I’m still sort of recovering from the injury. I wasn’t completely 100 percent healed. There’s sometimes it still bothers me. I think an off-season of just completely focusing on healing my shoulder and getting it 100 percent will be good for me.” — Cleveland Plain Dealer

Browns RB Peyton Hillis was asked about the novelty of being a white running back in the NFL. Hillis said the topic is thrown in his face directly and indirectly, regularly. “I know a lot of people don’t have a lot faith in me,” he said, “and even if you have a good year or a bad year they’re still going to criticize you and say you’re not good enough. It just gives me the motivation to go out there and do better.” Hillis said his complexion always came up on the field. “Every team did it,” he said. “They’ll say, ‘You white boy, you ain’t gonna run on us today. This is ridiculous. Why are you giving offensive linemen the ball?’ “All kinds of stuff like that you hear on the field, but I use that to my advantage. The Browns interviewed Atlanta Falcons assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave for their offensive coordinator vacancy on Tuesday, a league source confirmed.
Eagles secondary coach and senior assistant Dick Jauron also arrive in town Tuesday and will interview Wednesday for the defensive coordinator position, a source told The Plain Dealer. Fellow former NFL head coach Dave Wannstedt will interview Thursday for the defensive coordinator job. Musgrave was scheduled to arrive in Minnesota Tuesday night to interview for the Vikings’ coordinator position, according to reports by ESPN and NFL Network. — Cleveland Plain Dealer

Jim Zorn, currently the quarterbacks coach of the Baltimore Ravens, could be the Browns’ next offensive coordinator, according to league sources. Zorn was the quarterbacks coach under Browns president Mike Holmgren in Seattle from 2001-2007 when Holmgren was the Seahawks’ head coach. Zorn helped develop Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck in the West Coast offense. It is the same offense new Browns coach Pat Shurmur will run. — News-Herald

The Cleveland Browns have completed their interview process and are in talks with St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to become their head coach, league sources said Wednesday. The Browns expect to announce the move Thursday, when Shurmur’s agent, Bob LaMonte, comes to Cleveland to finalize the deal. LaMonte’s clients also include Browns president Mike Holmgren, general manager Tom Heckert and executive vice president Bryan Wiedmeier. — NFL Network
