Clippers sending Baron Davis to Eastern Conf?

Paul Silas is a long way removed from the NBA – and longer from his late 1990s success in Charlotte. And if bringing back Silas isn’t retro enough for everyone, how about Silas’ old Hornets point guard, Baron Davis? Jordan is considering a trade proposal that would send Augustin, DeSagana Diop and Matt Carroll to the Los Angeles Clippers for Davis, a league source told Yahoo! Sports. The Clippers have desperately tried to trade Davis and have included him in proposals with center Chris Kaman, league executives told Yahoo! Sports. Brown could’ve never coached Davis, but Silas allows a different freedom for his players. — Yahoo!

Bobcats consider dealing co-captains?

The Charlotte Bobcats have been gauging the trade value of various players, including co-captains Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace, two NBA sources confirmed Thursday. Bobcats management is apparently assessing its trade options. Raptors looking to deal Jarrett Jack or Jose Calderon?

Not sure either Jarrett Jack or Jose Calderon did enough to make Larry Brown go, ‘oh, I’ve got to have that guy.’ The other side of the coin, of course, is what would they ever get from Charlotte in a deal. No way the Bobcats are giving up Gerald Wallace or Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw’s a tubby tweener who’s not appreciably better than anyone Toronto has and Tyrus Thomas shows up one night and not the next and after that, there’s not much. Maybe Gerald Henderson’s an interesting player player but I’m not sure the Bobcats are interested in giving him up. Trust me, there were people in the upper echelons of Rpatordom who hoped one of Jack or Calderon were outstanding just to pique the interest of the Bobcats; that didn’t happen and I don’t know if there’s a legit fit there anyway. — Toronto Star

Fans in the Time Warner Cable Arena were unaware of the off-the-court action, since the arrest took place without incident inside a VIP room, although it’s not clear why Barranco was there. Barranco got into a dispute with Corey Scott, 28, on Oct. 23, as the Good Stuff Diner was packed with patrons spilling out from area bars and clubs. — NY Post

Michael Jordan likes meat lover’s pizza, selling Bobcats tickets

Since February, Michael Jordan has shown his face more often in Charlotte. At Selwyn Avenue Pub, where bartenders say he comes every couple of weeks, he hangs out in a secluded area where he dines on the $8 meat lover’s pizza and occasionally chats with other patrons and poses for pictures. One bartender, Derek Klomstad, said Mr. Jordan is generally nice—but when he offered Mr. Jordan a high-five after a Bobcats win last season, Mr. Jordan didn’t acknowledge his hand. “He’s doing what he has to do as owner,” said John Crigler, a pub regular who has seen Mr. Jordan there. “You can tell he doesn’t love it, but he’s trying.” … In Mr. Jordan’s first season as majority owner, the Bobcats made the playoffs for the first time. The team said it has sold 2,200 new season-ticket packages and has a 93% renewal rate—placing them among the NBA’s top five teams. — Wall Street Journal

NBA coach upset Allen Iverson is going to Turkey

Bobcats coach Larry Brown isn’t happy Allen Iverson is out of the NBA. “Nobody who has done as much as Allen has done for this league should have to be in Turkey playing, to end his career,” Brown said before the Bobcats-Magic game Thursday. “We have one of the most special players ever in our sport, who still has something left. I feel terrible about this. That is not how he should be ending his career.” Iverson, 35, is considering a $2 million, one-year offer from Besiktas Cola Turka, according to his business partner Gary Moore. Iverson wanted to play this season in the NBA, but he found no one was interested, including the Bobcats. — Fanhouse

Cavs coach tight with Larry Brown

Byron Scott went missing before Tuesday night’s preseason opener against the Charlotte Bobcats at The Q. Team officials couldn’t find their coach for his pre-game media session. Turned out, he was sitting out on the floor visiting with Bobcats coach Larry Brown. Scott calls Brown his best friend, and Brown feels the same way. Brown coached Scott in Indiana. “Byron’s special,” Brown said. “When I got the Indiana job, we traded for him and he was a phenomenal teammate and a great player, but we got him toward the end of his career. “He really helped me. I had him and Sam Mitchell. The way he carried himself and the input he had and the example he set for our team was phenomenal. We’ve been friends ever since.” – Cleveland Plain Dealer

NBA star thinks wife made up home invasion story

A home invasion occurred during the summer at a house Jackson was renting in Charlotte. Stephen Jackson said he’s been going through a divorce and questions whether the crime his wife described actually occurred. “To this day, there’s been no proof of anyone breaking in, so my attitude is it didn’t happen,” Jackson said. “I was going through a divorce situation with my wife at the time, so there were a lot of emotionally different things going on. “Nothing was stolen, no breaking and entering. If it did happen, I thank God that she’s OK. If not, then I’m ready to put it behind me.” — Charlotte Observer

Boris Diaw not worried about Bobcats trade talks

Forward Boris Diaw is anything but high-strung. His name came up twice this offseason in trade rumors – first in a mid-summer deal with Toronto and more recently in the four-team deal centered on Denver Nugget Carmelo Anthony. Diaw said no one should worry about him being distracted. He’s been traded twice already, and sees it as part of the gig. “If you don’t have any control over it, why would you worry about it? There’s nothing I can do but wait to see what will happen,” said Diaw, who would go to the Utah Jazz if this deal is consummated. — Charlotte Observer

Former Lakers guard attempts NBA comeback with Bobcats

Javaris Crittenton is hoping to return to the NBA after accepting an invitation to try out for the Charlotte Bobcats in training camp, his agent Mark Bartelstein said on Tuesday. Crittenton was suspended the final 38 games of last season for his role in an altercation with Gilbert Arenas involving guns. But that infamous, embarrassing incident — which led to Crittenton receiving one year of unsupervised probation and a $1,250 fine after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge in January — overshadowed the fact that the 6-foot-5 point guard was going to miss the entire year anyway because of a severe left ankle injury. Crittenton, whom the Los Angeles Lakers drafted with the 19th overall pick in 2007, had exploratory surgery last October that uncovered a double bone bruise and two strained tendons in his left ankle. — Washington Post

Antoine Walker, Darius Miles to Bobcats?

Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins said Antoine Walker is playing pick-up at the invitation of former Kentucky teammate (and Charlotte center) Nazr Mohammed, and fans shouldn’t view this as a prelude to Walker being in the Bobcats’ training camp. I will say Walker looked good; he needs a comeback after some financial misadventures, and clearly is back in shape. Higgins said former lottery pick Darius Miles, who was with the Bobcats in preparation for summer league in July, is welcome at training camp. However, Higgins emphasized Miles hasn’t yet signed any contract with the Bobcats. — Charlotte Observer
