The Steelers might have lost 31-25 to the Packers in the Super Bowl, but Hines Ward is getting a victory rally anyway.

The NFL receiver and dance partner Kym Johnson are being honored by the city of Pittsburgh for bringing the “Mirror Ball Trophy” back to the Steel City.

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl tells the Post-Gazette that Steelers Nation have demanded the city properly thank Hines Ward for his reality show win.

Imagine if Ward had the Lombardi Trophy instead of a made up award.

Barry Switzer one of only two coaches to win a college national championship and Super Bowl has opened Switzer Family Vineyards.

The Dallas Morning News reports the sparkling water produced in Napa Valley, will be sold in Texas and Oklahoma.

Wine connoisseur Jerry Jones got Switzer turned on to high-priced vintages while working together in Dallas. Switzer is the last Cowboys head coach to win a Super Bowl.

The label of each bottle from Switzer Family Vineyards includes this inscription:

My rural home in Arkansas was a shotgun house built in 1893. You could shoot a shotgun through the front door, out the back, not hit a thing. Hallway down the middle with three rooms on each side. No electricity, no plumbing, heat from a wood stove, light from coal oil lamps. There was something special about that old house, and I think there is something special about our wine. I know, since I happen to be a bootleggers boy. Enjoy! Barry Switzer.

It was a wild party in Las Vegas that included a 12-man posse that drank, ate red meat and used guns.

The NY POST reports that after arriving in Sin City the boys went to a shooting range to “blow off steam.”

The only thing missing from the bachelor party? LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. The Miami Heat teammates either weren’t invited, or didn’t want to join the third member of the Big Three.

LeBron could be in the witness protection program after his disheartening performance in the NBA Finals.

Wade might have still been recovering from the flu Dirk Nowitzki gave him.

The Hollywood star admits he is a tinsel town steroid cheat.

Sheen tells Sports Illustrated (via NY Daily News) that he used steroids to get ready for his iconic role as Ricky Vaughn, aka Wild Thing, in the 1989 film “Major League.”

“Let’s just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit,” says Sheen. “It was the only time I ever did steroids. I did them for like six or eight weeks. You can print this, I don’t give a f-. My fastball went from 79 to like 85.”

The roods worked, he didn’t turn into former Cy Young winner Eric Gagne, but Sheen can be proud of the fact he was a trend setter for the steroid boom of the 1990s.

The Brewers outfielder ate the delicious meal as he went out for batting practice.

Morgan, who has worn argyle socks in games under his game socks and flown a kite on Lake Michigan thanks to fans Twitter advice, also has some fun nicknames.

He tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he’s known as T-Dot and Tony Plush back in San Jose.

“Basically it was me and my crew. We called ourselves “The Rat Pack” back in the day back in San Jose (Calif.). Me and a few of my co-pilots, you could say, we basically were our own little crew. I was Tony Plush, we had my boy Frankie Sleaze, then there was my other boy, James dot Dean. We had fun with it, just a bunch of kids. I still call them Frankie Sleaze and James dot Dean. It was just one of those things that grew. I didn’t think that T-Dot would ever arrive like this. Nyjer Morgan wouldn’t say that, but T-Dot always knew that he’d be there (laughs).”

The U.S. Open winner is making the grade in the advertising world, despite very limited success on the golf course.

With only two wins on the PGA Tour, McIlRoy has zipped up the latest Celebrity Davie Brown Index.

The kid from Northern Ireland ranks higher than Tiger Woods in every category except awareness.

Most surprising in Hollywood Reporters story, McIlroy’s score in the endorsement attribute category.

The PGA Tour player is in the same group as Hollywood legends Robert DeNiro and Steven Spielberg.

Consumers are said to find McIlroy’s story as aspirational as those of Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio and Halle Berry.

While the WWE is fiction, this seemed real. Punk went were athletes are told to never go, he ripped his boss Vince McMahon, the fans who support him and the TV network that broadcasts his events.

It got so ugly that USA Network CUT his microphone off. Its ironic that the best WWE drama appears to be real, not made up by some of McMahon’s writers. Punk was suspended by the WWE boss, effectively ending his career with the company.

Bill Belichick isn’t a barrel of laughs, but his players should get a kick out of this story.
The Patriots coach enjoying his free time on a bike ride during the lockout saw the air come out of his tire. Belichick, on a silver bike around Nantucket, survived a scare when his front tire blew!

The Boston Herald reports Belichick, who won’t be invited to replace Lance Armstrong at the Tour de France anytime soon, was forced to call his girlfriend to bail him out.

Even while dealing with a bike emergency, Belichick still found time to be rude to one of his supporters.

A construction worker spotted the high-and-mighty coach, asking him to take a photo. Belichick said NO! He claimed to be too sweaty for a picture. Could he have been worried about appearing on the sports blogs?

Even in a moment of need, the coach who made the hoodie famous proved to be vain.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan claims a few of his Hollywood friends have mad skills in mixed martial arts.

Rogan thinks actor Kevin James is the cat’s meow in the UFC world. Rogan worked with the Mall Cop star in an MMA movie, set for release in 2012.

“Everyone knows him as this overweight comedian guy who’s like this lovable, cuddly character,” Rogan tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “The last time I saw him work out, I was like, ‘Whoa!’ ”

While James skills are stunning, Rogan’s praise for actor Ed O’Neal’s (“Modern Family” and “Married With Children.”) skills is astonishing.

The “Fear Factor” host also claimed Sean Patrick Flanery (actor) and Shaq (retired NBA star) have the golden MMA touch.

Everyone else has retired. The expansion Devil Rays went 63-99 under manager Larry Rothschild. Fred McGriff’s 19 homers led the offense, Rolando Arrojo’s 14-12 record made him the ace of Tampa’s first team.

Cairo, 37, with the Cincinnati Reds this season has traveled to nine Major League teams, he’s never made more than $1 million in a season and only now has a multiyear deal. With the Expansion Rays, Cairo batted .268 with 5 homers and 46 RBIs. The St. Petersburg Times asked Cairo about his place in team history.

A Las Vegas man has filed a lawsuit against boxing star Floyd Mayweather over a parking lot beat down at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Anthony Cliff claims he was attempting to take a photo of Mayweather at the hotel back in March, when a bodyguard for the boxer told him that wasn’t allowed, so he walked away. As he was leaving the hotel he spotted Mayweather and his bodyguards in the Palm’s valet parking area.

Cliff ended up chatting with someone from Mayweather’s posse about a possible upcoming fight for Mayweather when he claims at least THREE bodyguard approached and surrounded him, making threatening comments.

The man claims he tried to defuse the situation when Mayweather again made threatening comments, making a “thumbs down” sign or gesture to the bodyguards, which was a signal for the men to attack.

The lawsuit, posted on Courthouse News says Mayweather’s bodyguards hit the man in the face, knocking, pulling or pushing him to the ground, causing his head to hit the pavement, while repeatedly kicking him in the back and side.

Cliff claims injuries to his face, head, neck, back and side. The Vegas parking lot beat down caused him to suffer “extreme and severe physical pain and mental and emotional anguish, upset, pain and suffering.”

He’s claiming the injuries may be permanent and disabling in nature. The plaintiff is seeking damages in an amount in excess of $10,000.00

Chuck Norris is a big fan of an NFL quarterback. Tim Tebow told Jimmy Kimmel after his Heisman Trophy winning sophomore season at Florida he received a hand written letter from Norris.

“It was a super nice letter encouraging me and ever since then we have had a relationship and its been pretty cool,” Tebow said.

Norris, an internet legend thanks to “Chuck Norris Facts,” is known for his martial arts and acting skills. He’s also a devout Christian, which most likely led him to follow Tebow. Norris has written several books on Christianity over the years.

Kimmel pointed out the blurb Norris wrote on the back of Tebow’s book.

Tebow also said that the Hollywood movie “Rocky 4″ inspired his workout routine as a kid.

Imagine busting your butt for years to get a shot at the Olympics, only to have that dream taken away by a micro blogging site. Participants in the 2012 London Olympics might be thrown out if they break social media rules. International Olympic suites have created a rule book for next summer’s Games to handle the use of Twitter and Facebook.

Olympic Rules on Twitter/Facebook

Postings ONLY in first-person, diary-style.

ZERO posts about political issues.

NOT allowed to post product endorsements. No commercial tweets.

Social media posts must be dignified and in good taste.

Vulgar and obscene words and images are not allowed.

Photographs are allowed but NO video

Athletes who fail to follow these social media rules could be kicked out of the Olympic Games without notice, says the London Sun.

Its one thing to invite champions of the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL to the White House, but should tax dollars be squandered honoring secondary sports leagues?

President Barack Obama took time away from his duties running the United States to honor members of the Major League Soccer champions at the White House. Colorado Rapids boss Jeff Plush gave Obama a jersey in the East Room today.

The Rapids averaged 14,329 fans to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, below capacity during the championship season. They shouldn’t be given the same honor as the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco Giants and Dallas Mavericks.

Obama is known for his love of sport. His favorite teams, Chicago White Sox, Bulls and Pittsburgh Steelers are well known.

Its his little known passion for soccer which is impacting taxpayers. The President claimed to be a huge fan of the sport during his election, saying he played soccer while a student at Harvard Law School. The London tabloids claimed Obama is a fan of West Ham, following a visit to Britain.

That’s great, with the U.S. National Debt at $14,456,291,000,000 and growing by the second, lets not force the American people pay tax dollars to honor niche sports.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were in the crowd for tennis action at Wimbledon today, with different levels of fan enjoyment. The Duke of Cambridge didn’t seem interested in taking part in the wave during the fourth round match between Rafael Nadal and Juan Matin Del Porto on Day Seven of action from England.

Krazy George, a 1970s and 80s cheerleader, claims to be the inventor of “the wave.” The legend goes it was used it as part of his cheerleading routine on October 15, 1981, while at a nationally televised Oakland Athletics ALCS game against the New York Yankees

The Dutchess of Cambridge and even Billie Jean Kings (middle in white) appear to be having a great time with the rest of the fans at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Prince William was convinced to take part in the wave later.

Asked if he would be giving helpful advice to LeBron James, Shaq said he wasn’t interested. O’Neal and King James were teammates for 53 games during the 2009-10 season in Cleveland.

So when Norm Clarke of the Las Vegas Review-Journal asked Shaq why he won’t be helping LeBron, the big AARP had an interesting answer for the sad sack.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have long been the biggest joke on the field in Major League Baseball, now some are accusing them of being dirty off the field. A group of protesters made a scene at PNC Park on Sunday to protest what they say is shady business by the home town team.

In what is called the “Delaware loophole,” the Pirates are registered in the state of Delaware to avoid paying corporate income taxes in the state of Pennsylvania, according to a member of the group.

The Pirates have had 18 straight losing seasons, the all-time record in the history of major sports. They tell WPIX (via GrassRootsPA) that reports of them not paying their fair share of taxes aren’t correct.

The Pirates released a statement saying, “The assertion that the Pirates were ‘moved’ to avoid paying Pennsylvania state taxes is false. The Pittsburgh Pirates are, and have been for many years, a Pennsylvania limited partnership. In addition, millions of dollars are also generated through the amusement tax, which goes directly to the city of Pittsburgh. “

Los Angeles has an NBA team (Clippers) that started in Buffalo, now they could be adding an NFL team as well. Tim Leiweke is scouting America for the right NFL franchise to purchase and move to the city of Dodgers and Lakers. Pro Football Weekly reports the Buffalo Bills could be the perfect choice to head west. Owner Ralph Wilson says the team will go to the highest bidder after he does. At age 92, he wants the franchise to stay in Buffalo, but when he’s moved on, its money that will decide the teams next home.
