Jose Canseco to testify before Congress?

Jose Canseco is headed to Washington D.C. in his fight to expose Major League Baseball's growing steroid scandal. Canseco's attorney, Robert Saunooke, told Fox Sports Radio's Chris Myers and Bryan Cox on "The Drive" that Canseco has been invited by Congressman Tom Davis' office to speak in front of a committee on steroids in baseball.

"Jose has always said he's more than happy to do that, welcomes it, and has been hopeful that major league baseball and the player's association will start being more forthright in the revelations that he has made in the book," Sanuooke said.

Canseco has been attacked by many people around baseball over his best-selling book, Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits and How Baseball Got Big.

Several current major leaguers are expected to join Canseco on Capitol Hill testifying about steroids in baseball. "They are contacting other players, through both teams and their agents, to see if they would be willing to show up voluntarily as Jose is to answer questions," Saunooke said.

Canseco's lawyer also said that baseball commissioner Bud Selig is meeting Wednesday with Congressmen Henry Waxman and Tom Davis.

Specifics as to when and where Canseco will testify have not yet been finalized according to Saunooke.
