The jury sided with Harris in his complaint that his doctor, agents and accountant were involved in an unlawful kickback scheme that cost him millions of dollars. The five-week trial pitted Harris against accountant Charlie Pope, the lone remaining unsettled defendant in the suit. Among those testifying were Padres General Manager Kevin Towers, former Padre Tony Gwynn and former Dallas Cowboy Darren Woodsen. Pope was found liable for $5 million in economic damages and $5 million in noneconomic damages. The jury said Pope was 11 percent responsible for what happened.
