 In Des Moines, Iowa, Tiger Woods will be honored in a manner never bestowed upon any other sporting figure during the opening ceremonies of the 11-day Iowa State Fair. A life-sized Tiger Woods will be at the Fair -- carved entirely out of butter, according to The ORLANDO SENTINEL.
How many of us can say that?
The butter Tiger is the work of Norma "Duffy" Lyon, 75, one of America's great contributors to unique art. For nearly five decades, Duffy has carved a 400-pound butter pig each year for the Fair. Some years ago, she decided to branch out.
"Who knew that she's a huge fan of Tiger Woods and has been for years?" said Fair Marketing Director Lori Chappell. "She walked in one morning and announced that she had had a vision to honor Tiger this year."
As for Duffy's savory work for the Fair, Chappell added: "There's not a lot of traditions like that."
Granted Phil Mickelson and John Daly seem better suited for butter but, like Elvis, Tiger is the King -- and the real thing. Accept no substitutes.
