Will Damon cut hair?

The pressure is building on Red Sox OF Johnny Damon to cut his hair, not from baseball traditionalists but from charities and television stations hoping to benefit from the event.

Damon, who actually had a couple of inches trimmed recently off the back of his locks, said he is not opposed to cutting some of his hair for charity as early as next month. But he seemed a bit put off by how fast the potential beneficiaries want to grab the clippers and by how much they want to clip.

"They want me to cut a lot off," he said. "Forget that. It's still my hair. I'm just not going to cut off as much as they want. I would like to do something, but it would be on my terms."

Damon indicated he was particularly mystified by the aggressiveness of certain television outlets.

"That's what's probably killing it a little more, TV people trying to get exclusives," he said. "I'm like, `C'mon, that's not why my hair is long. It's long because I want it to be long.' I don't like it so much with the cap, but without the cap, I feel like a good-looking guy."
