The Royals are planning to honor former pitcher and broadcaster Paul Splittorff with shoulder patches. KC STAR reports the patches were ordered on Wednesday, but the clubhouse guys couldn’t get them tailored onto the uniforms prior to today’s game with the Orioles, so they should debut Friday when the Royals visit the Rangers.
Plans call for small circular patches to be worn on the right sleeve. They are black with “SPLITT” in white capital letters.
