MLB slugger gets hit off 102 MPH fastball

Diamondbacks 1B Russell Branyan wrote his name into the history books over the weekend. The slugger slapped a single off Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman in the 8th inning. Branyan’s hit was on a 102 mph fastball, that makes it the second-fastest pitch EVER hit safely in recorded history, according to the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Phillies catcher has the record, a double off Chapman on a 103.5 mph pitch last postseason. Branyan has played for the Indians, Brewers, Padres, Reds, Mariners, Rays, Phillies and Cardinals in addition to the D-Backs during his 14 season journey
