College basketball player charged in dine-and-dash

Pitt men’s basketball player Lamar Patterson was charged by Manheim Township police, Lancaster County, following an alleged incident in which he is accused of leaving a restaurant without paying his bill. Patterson, a redshirt freshman forward from Lancaster, is charged with providing false identification to law enforcement, theft of services and carrying a false identification card, according to Manheim Township police. Pitt officials said they are aware of the incident and are reviewing the situation, but could not make any further comment. They wouldn’t speculate on Patterson’s status for Saturday, when the No. 4 Panthers play host to  Cincinnati. Police say Patterson, who played at McCaskey High School in Lancaster, and two others left the House of Pasta on Dec. 28 without paying a $30 bill. — Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
