The efforts of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross to push hand-held devices — produced by his Kangaroo TV operation — by offering each team 5,000 units to hand out to premium-seat holders, hasn’t gone as well as hoped. The devices — branded as “Fan Vision” — carry the NFL RedZone channel and allow fans to view replays, check fantasy stats, and do some of the things they’ve traditionally given up by going to the game rather than staying home. According to SportsBusiness Journal, just 12 teams took Ross up on his offer. The Patriots, for one, have gone in another direction, using the Krafts’ business model of running every facet of their operation in-house and offering their 8,000 club-seat and suite-holders a free app for the iPhone and Droid. Yinzcam brings replays and alternate in-house camera angles through the app, the RedZone channel will be offered, and live stats will be included. The idea is provide what Fan Vision does without asking consumers to carry an additional device. — Boston Globe
