The Twins control torrid-hitting Delmon Young for two more years after this season. But Young, 24, who was salary arbitration eligible last winter and increased his pay from $1.15 million to $2.6 million this season after hitting .284 with 12 home runs and 60 runs batted in in 108 games last year, has arbitration available for the next two years. He did not go to arbitration last winter. This season, in 94 games, Young is hitting .330 with 76 RBIs and 13 homers. At his current pace, that would translate to an arbitration market value of about $6 million for next season. The Twins won’t say whether they intend to try to sign Young to a long-term contract, but the guess is they’ll wait another season. — Pioneer Press
