Diamondbacks officials are still discussing trade scenarios for a team that seems to be bracing for more movement. Reliever Chad Qualls clearly is in play, as is catcher Chris Snyder, first baseman Adam LaRoche and reliever Aaron Heilman. The team also seems willing to move second baseman Kelly Johnson and has been listening to offers on right-hander Edwin Jackson. According to a Fox Sports report, the Washington Nationals are trying to obtain young pitching that they could send to the Diamondbacks for Jackson. Johnson clearly has the most value. Not only has he been arguably the club’s best hitter and is relatively affordable, he has another year to go before free agency. The Diamondbacks could look to package him with someone whose contract they would like to shed. — Arizona Republic
